Sony Style Accepting Pre-Orders For New 80GB PS3 Model
One of the biggest pieces of news to come out of E3 last month was Sony's announcement of the new PlayStation 3 model. It's essentially the same system as the current 40GB version, but it has an 80GB hard drive, and it'll cost the now-standard $399.

And these systems are just around the corner. Sony's official online store, Sony style, now has the new 80GB PS3 available for pre-order; they're going to ship on the first of September. As you can see, they also have the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 bundle, which comes with an 80GB PS3, but we believe that's the old 80 gig system, the one that features backwards compatibility for most PS2 software. The new 80GB, just like the 40GB model, does not have any b/c for PS2 games, although it will still play PS1 software. If you haven't yet played MGS4, that bundle is a fantastic option, but if Snake isn't your bag, the new 80GB PS3 is still a good buy. After the typical early drought of games, Sony's next-gen system now has plenty of great games out there, and many more are on the way.

Remember, the original 60GB PS3 launched with a price tag of $600, so the cost has fallen significantly in less than two years, and is now priced competitively with the Xbox 360. ...oh, and while we don't promote one system over another here, we just have to add that the PS3 is a far more reliable system. Facts are facts.
